Food Manifesto (Our Beliefs)

Our Food philosophy is based upon 4 elements : Premium Quality – Enjoyment and fun with food – Connection – Sustainability

In simplest terms, sustainable agriculture is the production of food, fiber, or other plant or animal products using farming techniques that protect the environment, public health, human communities, and animal welfare.  This form of agriculture enables us to produce healthful food without compromising future generations‘ ability to do the same.

We keep our standards high for all the foods we sell, avoiding foods with trans-fats, GMOs or excessive packaging. By selecting  natural and organic ingredients whenever possible we ensure that all of ourfood  not only tastes better but that it is also a healthy choice. We purchase food based on taste, the effect on environment, and the quality of life for the animals that help feed us.

We bring you pure, naturally produced food and wine from Mount Olympus and Pieria in rural Greece. As well as the purity and quality of our products, we are committed to a philosophy that we hope you’ll share with us.

If you visit us at the foot of Mount Olympus, you’d appreciate this ‘philosophy of the food’ but we hope we can share a sense of that with you in these pages.

We are directly connected with our food producers. Everything is  sourced straight  from the farmers and they are paid fairly for their produce and their hard work.

Our  produce is farmed in harmony with local ecosystems, not counter to them. It encompasses farming that uses natural, holistic and ethical farming methods such as chemical-free, biodynamic,  as well as certified organic.  The way we choose and consume food affects our relationship with the environment and with people close to us. It makes us aware of our interconnectedness with the planet and all living beings on it.

Eating  is much more than the mere consumption of food; it should be all about fun and enjoyment, and it means savouring every detail. Cooking can truly be a pleasurable experience, and experimenting with different ingredients can be a lot of fun and educational.   Who doesn’t enjoy a good home cooked meal with good friends over a stimulating conversation?

It’s said that “you are what you eat”. Well, whilst that’s true, it’s not the complete truth.

If you share an affinity, a connection with the land and the people who nurture and harvest that food, if you appreciate the history of the traditions and values that are reflected in its simple purity and healthy goodness – then the quality and taste are enhanced, by that deeper appreciation of the timeless contact with ancient culture and values.

So our Philosophy of Food extends beyond your enjoyment of it, which of course is vital to us.

We aim to sell our growing range of food and wines by replicating that sense of local communities sharing similar values. That’s why you won’t find it on the shelves of the big chain supermarkets.

You can purchase directly from ourselves of course, whilst you are here on our web site, but we have other, more engaging ways for you to taste and get closer to what we mean. You’ll find our food and wine at local, independent food stores and delicatessens. Soon we will also offer holidays on which you can experience the culinary joys of Greece combined with walks/art/culture / visits to our producers.
